Commercial Law
Commercial law relates to the formation of contracts and agreements, as well as the sale and distribution of goods, financial transactions, consumer dealings, business practices, and other commercial operations.
The primary focus of commercial law is on the sale and distribution of goods and the financing of specific transactions. The Uniform Commercial Code (“UCC”) serves as a model set of laws governing these transactions, including the sale of goods and tangible items, leases, negotiable instruments, and secured transactions. In Ohio, a version of the UCC has been adopted. Nearly every state in the country has adopted its own version of the code. Due to the differences among each state’s UCC adoption, it is advisable to engage an attorney with experience in handling transactions under the UCC.
