Estate Planning
Estate planning involves planning for how a person’s affairs will be handled and how their assets will be preserved, managed, and distributed in the event the person becomes mentally disabled or dies. Our objective is to provide our clients with peace of mind. Peace of mind in knowing that if they become mentally disabled, then their affairs will be handled in the manner they have directed and by the people they have chosen. Peace of mind in knowing that when they die their assets will be distributed according to their intended plans.
Estate planning does not begin and end with a last will and testament. We use tools such as living trusts to minimize or avoid estate taxes and probate expenses. We work with our clients to ensure that their life’s savings and assets are shielded from their beneficiaries’ creditors after their death. We work with our clients to develop a plan that meets their needs and their expectations.
We also prepare powers of attorney and health care directives that assist in arranging for someone to take care of you and your affairs in the event you should ever become unable to do so. Planning ahead can also help you avoid guardianship or conservatorship issues if you need someone else to look after your affairs.
